Week 15&16/2026 : Monday 6th April to Sunday 19th April

weeks started with a lot of excitement.

A lady called asking for 200 plants in bulk to gift at a ceremony. We didn’t have that many ready, but I still got very excited—started contacting suppliers, getting quotes, arranging pots and potting mix. And then she cancelled at the last moment. It was disappointing. But that’s business, right? Out of ten enquiries, maybe one or two actually buy.

Still, this made me think seriously about building a better nursery. I need to pot more plants and be prepared for such orders. I am pollinating adeniums and I’m sure I can make more than a thousand plants this time (last year I made around 400). I also need to start marketing. Sujay has rented a small office space in the city, and I’m thinking of keeping a few plants there for display. I’m also considering making small cement pots using silicone moulds for succulents—I used to do this in 2021. But I don’t know if I’ll get time for everything. Hiring a worker feels risky—I’m not sure if I can pay them sustainably.

After all this, I went to my parents’ house for a week. It was refreshing as always. I crocheted with Sindhu atte and made two car hangings—a sun and a flower vase. My little cousins joined, which made it fun. Sindhu atte wants to start crochet classes, so I helped her design a WhatsApp ad on Canva.

I had gone home for my ajji’s varshantaka—it’s been a year since she passed away. I miss her.

Camp planning is picking up fast. Two resource persons who had agreed suddenly backed out, so I’m finding alternatives. There’s a lot to coordinate—timings, parents, materials. I changed it from a full-day to half-day camp. I’ve started packing and even made posters for the final exhibition. It’s exhausting doing everything on my own, but also exciting.

I also joined the committee for an agriculture quiz for high school students on Krishi Jayanti at Swarnavalli Mutt. First round is on 21st (online), finals on 29th. I attended meetings and contributed a few questions.
I came back home after a week—would have stayed longer, but amma fell sick with leg pain due to muscle strain. She’s under treatment but not fully better yet. Hope she recovers soon.

We also visited relatives to invite them for Dhruva’s hair cutting ceremony on the 24th.

I read a 250-page novel in two days after a long time—Ateeta, a black magic story. Also finished writing my article for Shramajeevi.

Attended a program on 'betta land' awareness. 'Betta land' is basically the jungle land adjacent to our farm, given as a special privilege for us to collect firewood, leaf litter, green leaf etc in turn we are supposed to take care by not cutting trees or occupy jungle or turn or into agri land. This is a sustainable agroforestry model unique to our Uttara Kannada district. Recently a quarrel that happened between farmers and forest officers had sparked interest among localities to know more about betta land and its privileges. It was quite a good gathering. But I was the only lady among 150 men. I raised a concern that todays youth like us have very less knowledge about these essential local things and there is a need to create a blog with historical moments particular to our local land and environment movements. I was happy that all the elderly welcomed the thought.
