Week 2/2026: 5 Jan to 11 Jan
Ah what a good start to the year 2026! The week was colorful.
Of course cough and cold season's not over, but I got over it. Also the back pain, looks like it's going to stay with me forever, I have to move on; this week I mostly ignored it too.
First was completing crocheting the iPhone mobile pocket. It's been incomplete for so many many days, and completing it was a pure achievement.
Monday morning I went for shopping at 'reliance trends' and 'babyhug'. There are not many malls like this here in our small town. Even the collection in this shops are also limited, very boring types. I went with an intention of buying some new kurtas of L size (M doesn't fit my mom body anymore), and I didn't like any. I came back. But it was so refreshing.
This year I have determined 'I will note down everything that happened and thats going to happen'. So I thought of buying a planner. I ordered alicia souza's monthly planner. It got delivered soon. Hope I stick to writing notes, at least for filling that beautiful creative planner.
Jan8th Thursday we had a pooja at home, regarding my 'ಸಂಧಿ'. According to my horoscope there is going to be transition with respect to planet 'Kuja' and 'Rahu'. Which is going to cause ill effects, to avoid which there needed a pooja to be conducted. We also had 'Mrityunjaya Homa' seeking blessings for long healthy life.
the rangoli is for nava grahas (nine planets)Jan 9th Friday was my last class of this academic year at school. I conducted a small test and concluded the course. As this is an extra curricular course I tend to complete it soon by mid Jan. And checked the paper too. It's always fun to look at their answers. I had asked to note down one insect that harm the crops, and few have written mosquito! Which makes me doubt my teaching some times.
Also on friday me and Dhruva went to Kabbe. It was a sudden plan. Dhruva loves being with my amma. He enjoyed two days there. A documentary film was being shot there, from 10 days, which also got completed by Friday.
Agastya-Renuka Geeta saara was the film,
this thermool Nandi we kept after their shooting, its so beautifully carved
On friday while coming back from school I visited Horticulture department's nursery. They have bought in a variety of flowering plants in preparation of annual flower show, which are also available for buying for public. I got few for amma.
chrysanthemums and CalenhouseOn Saturday 10th Jan a special kind of festival dedicated to coffee and blackpepper harvesting was arranged in the farm of Mr.Seetaram Hegde, a progressive farmer from Neernalli village. I took students for the field visit. Nearly a thousand farmers had attended the program. There was also an exhibition of over 75 black pepper varieties. The program also honoured 6 young black pepper farmers with 'Rani Chrnnabhairadevi Award'.
On sunday 11th Jan, there was a big people gathering protesting the interlinking of Bedti-Varada rivers and Building dam to Aghanashini. lifelines of Uttara Kannada being sacrificed to unscientific developmental works was opposed by 20k people!. I couldn't attend unfortunately. But I watched the live.
So as I said, this week was very productive. And truly is a good start to the calendar year.
Enjoyed reading this long post! You can consider keeping the betta in a small planted tank. Requires minimal care. Only once a week 25% water change from the top. And u can add common plants like hygrophila and vallisneria. No filter required.
ReplyDeletethanks! it indeed is beginner friendly. this small bowl is wall mounted. I wish to keep a tank with plants. I was planning to do this activity with Dhruva once he grows up a little :)
