Week 45/2025; 3rd Nov Monday to 9th Nov Sunday

My phone is finally back after repair. Newly released models like my Samsung A36 don’t have duplicate displays available, so we had to use an original one that cost 7.5k. I’m now extremely cautious while using it around Dhruva. If it falls again, I’m doomed. I’m also crocheting a sling bag to keep my phone in, so I don’t have to hold it in my hands while roaming around.

I’m not obsessed with gold or jewellery, but I believe investing in gold is safer since it always appreciates in value. People like Sujay, who understand shares and mutual funds, call me dumb for thinking that way. But that’s fine. Savings are what matter. I pestered Sujay to invest some money to buy me a bit of gold this Diwali. I had a mimic neckpiece from Adore by Priyanka, and I asked our goldsmith to replicate it in gold. But he ruined it. It turned out very disappointing. Now I can’t change the design, and I can’t even make a new one because they charge extra making charges. I had also asked them to make a gold ring, which turned out fine.

Crocheting is addictive. My feed is filled with reels of crochet projects, and I feel like trying every single design. I bought yarn from Hobby Store. They have a great variety of premium yarns, perfect for beginners, but I don’t yet know which types to buy. Looks like it’s going to be trial and error—and a bit of wasted money too. I crocheted my charger cord to look like a vine, and now I’m working on a sling bag for my phone. I had asked Sindhu atte, my crochet teacher and our neighbor from Kabbe, to make an amigurumi froggy car charm. She made it so cute. Let me know if you’d like to learn crochet or order any customised items. I had tried to learn earlier from YouTube tutorials, but it was too confusing. After learning the basics properly, I find it much easier to follow new designs now.

I stitched a case for my crochet needles. Proud of my sewing skill.

My belief in astrology is fifty-fifty. We keep showing our horoscopes to different experts. Whether they turn out true or not, it’s always fun to hear how they interpret our personalities. This week, we showed mine to Umesh Hegde Gadikai, who was a computer science engineer at Wipro, now retired and settled into farming. His approach to reading horoscopes is different. He notes major aspects of life like work, partnership, tension, happiness, profit, and expenses, and gives each a score between 15 and 45. My average score was 30, with profit getting a whopping 40. He said I have the potential to earn in lakhs, but there are hurdles that can be solved by temple visits. I’m not sure if that will ever happen. But one thing he got right was that I’m bad at maths—and that’s why I stayed away from engineering. I had scored 99/100 in both PU and SSLC maths, all by mugging up and writing problems repeatedly. I still wonder how. Biology and EVS were the only subjects I loved and read poore dil se. That’s why only they stayed with me, not physics, chemistry, or maths. I don’t regret that, though.

I watched Kantara: Legend Chapter 1. I didn’t like it. The first movie I watched in the theatre was a wholesome experience. This one I watched on Prime Video, that too with a single earbud—maybe that’s why it didn’t feel good. But even beyond that, there was no real story. Too much fighting. The previous Kantara had fights too, but they were exciting to watch. I think nowadays Kannada movies are overhyped, especially those Shetty-led ones from South Canara.

We had no snacks at home, so I stopped by a small shop on my way back from school on Friday. It’s near a primary school, so I found all those one-rupee snacks and chaat items I used to eat as a kid. My ajja used to run a small grocery shop, and I would go there on Sundays and holidays. I packed groceries, wrote bills, served customers, and opened soda bottles. In return, I was allowed to pick three items to eat. My ajja was strict—only three in a whole day. I used to be so careful choosing. Those days were such fun.

As I mentioned, I started another K-drama, I Am Not a Robot. It’s about a rich young man who’s allergic to people—he develops rashes if he touches anyone. A scientist offers to deliver a robot with advanced AI as his companion. He agrees, but when the robot gets damaged before delivery, the scientist, afraid of consequences, sends a woman pretending to be the robot. The man believes she’s a robot and even touches her with no allergic reaction. Strange. The story felt too silly, so I stopped watching. I tried another K-drama but couldn’t get through even the first episode. I think I’m saturated with K-dramas now. Maybe I should switch to something new—how about anime? I’m totally new to it. Suggest a good one to start with.

Winter is here. Coconut oil has started solidifying on its own. Ticks have bitten all over my body. It’s suddenly freezing cold. Dhruva’s cheeks have turned red. I think this winter is going to be harsh, judging by how much it rained.

are you missing dhruva? He is growing quickly

I was feeling emo this week. So just dropping a thought. Why is always ‘a woman’ is married to ‘a man’. Why is that only ‘she’ leaves her parents and ‘he’ doesn’t. Why is family is ‘in laws’ and doesn’t include her ‘parents'.
