Week 34: 18th July Monday to 24th July Sunday /2025

The week started off with a doctor visit. I had a little problem with breastfeeding, had to go to my gynac, Dr.Sharada. She checked and said nothing is to be worried. She was teasing that I didn’t cry this time. I look a very confident person from face, but I am very fragile when it comes to health issues. She remembers the day Dhruva was delivered. I was screaming in the labour bed. She tried to convince me for Normal delivery, but I consented for C-section as I could no longer hold the pain. Even after delivery I had post-partum blues, she was with me, consoling, like a friend!

I went to see this prop studio on the same day. I want to do Dhruvas photoshoot. Tiny sofa, tiny chair, tiny boat, tiny piano, tiny swing, tiny truck, all the tiny were very cute.

While coming back from the hospital I brought some vegetables. When I turn back to this week, I see that I had brought home vegetables thrice, each time spending a minimum of 250. Its pouring rain, veggies in my kitchen garden are going through heavy stress, I can’t expect a good harvest, have to depend on market. But spending nearly a thousand on fruits+veggies in just a week is too much (Don’t ask about groceries). Biggest problem with me is I don’t bargain. I lack that skill. I am of the opinion that If I bargain (after spending time and energy, offending the shop keeper), I get an off of 10 20 rupees (of course that’s some money) but that which I gained here, I will lose it somewhere.

Sizzling Brownie again

Sujay bargains very well. I tell you why. Many nomadic families from Rajasthan have come to Sirsi. Scattered at the crowded places throughout city, they are selling balloons and toys on street side in a small vehicle (which is basically their home!). I stopped nearby one, asked for the price, she said ‘ek sou pachas’. It was overpriced but she was a young girl of around 18 to 20 years of age, carrying a kid younger than Dhruva, with a plate of sevpuri in her hand, I couldn’t bargain, came back for the purse told Sujay its for 150. Sujay went. He asked how much she said ‘ek sou pachas’, Sujay said ‘tees’, She said ‘sou dedo’, Sujay said ‘tees’, She said ‘chalo saat dedo’, Sujay said ‘tees’, She said ‘are, pachas dedo’, Sujay said ‘tees’, I stopped in the middle, gave her 50. Sujay scolded me, they are a very intelligent kin with all the necessary skills to survive and flourish. There is no need to show them mercy! I left it, it’s a never-ending discussion.

My amma with the balloon that we bought for Dhruva

I am using my new phone; very satisfied with the camera. But it was taking too long to get charged. I see that in recent days accessories like charger, cables are not included with the phone. I neglected ordering an adapter thinking why to create electronic waste when I had a charger from previous phone. But I see that it’s not working. I had to buy a new one. After checking reviews on amazon, bought this universal adapter by BOAT, which costed me 1300, whereas original Samsung 45W adapter was priced 3.5k in Samsung store. Gadgets from BOAT are really making premium features affordable for middleclass people like us. I have ear pods from the same company, bought few year back, they are working fine.

I completed reading a book ‘Karma Phala’ by Satish Hegde. Satish sir works as senior office at Department of Horticulture, writes for Kannada audience on various subjects like culture and history – That’s very interesting of him! The story goes around local places, local deity, local language. Although amateur he has narrated the story very well, I didn’t struck or felt bored anywhere.

I didn’t do any writing work except for a translation. Sujay had prepared a farmer’s profile to apply for an award. It was in English, he ‘ordered’ me to translate. Already exhausted by lot of writing last week, I said I won’t do it for free. He asked to quote a price. I said 3rs for a word. He bargained again! Finally we came to a deal of 1.5rs/word (That’s what I usually get paid for my articles). While it is teamwork I should have done without asking payment getting paid by your own husband is some other feeling!
