Week 31: 28th July Monday to 3rd August Sunday
This was a blockbuster week. Many
things happened, all productive, celebration worthy.
To start with; we registered our
NGO, ‘Phasalu paathashaale’ with an objective to transfer agri knowledge to
audience across various age groups. It was my long wish to create a separate
banner for our agri education activities, and I am happy that it finally came
true. After being into teaching horticulture to school students from last 3
years, I am finding the need for more such activities. Not only children but
women youth and all agri enthusiasts. We are now open officially for extending
our support.
The week marked the celebration of
one of our festivals – ‘Nagara Panchami’ – dedicated to the snake god Nagappa,
the cobra. Biggest fun was ‘herping’ on this week of snakes! (For those who don’t
know, Herping is the activity of searching for and observing reptiles and
amphibians in their natural habitats). We had ‘Amatya Sharma’ from ‘The Niche
Malnad Farm Stay’ for conducting the activity. My young cousins were here. We spotted
many frogs and toads, baby and big vine snakes, even touched and handled them.
For the details on how great was the event, read the blog post here.
Dhruva as Nagappa
The season of Mangosteen, one of
my most favourite fruit is back. After the monkeys feasting on, we were left
with exactly 12 fruits. Believe me, mangosteens taste the heaven. We savoured it,
saved the seeds for making some more.
Something interesting is brewing
at the school. I made frequent visits to school this week apart from regular
classes. Talking to secretory, school committee, teacher. What’s happening will
be revealed next week. My Samsung phone reached, also Dhruvas high chair, the
biggest confusions are concluded. Now I am enjoying taking photos and videos of
Dhruva. It captures good photos. I am yet to assemble the high chair., will see
if Dhruva enjoys or not next week.
The seeds for the kitchen garden germinated, I transplanted them to the field
