Week 15 of 2025, Sunday to Saturday, April 6th to April 12th.
I am starting to write this
weekly note inspired by Learningwala Mihir. I always wanted to write daily diary.
I start it with new year but end it half a way. I need to make it a habit. Now
I am determined to write, let’s see :)
I am an ‘early to bed early to rise’
person. But with Dhruva around, I wake up very late now. Nights are very exhausting,
breastfeeding. I feel it was better then; when he was new born. He used to wake
up every 3-4 hours. Now he is 4 months old. I co-sleep with him, and he wakes
up every hour, needing me to pacify him each time to go back to sleep. During day
time my amma, appa, ajji look over him, I take small naps, manage to work a little,
but this is not helping, nights are nights!
Sunday was Rama Navami, I made
Dhruva to pose like Rama, took pictures. Afterall enjoy motherhood! Dhruva’s
ear piercing was also done on the same day. Gold rates are too high, nearly a
lakh for 10 grams, which was some 60 70k two months down. But ear-piercing can’t
be postponed. It is a mandatory ritual.
My phone was running out of
storage. My laptop was filled with unnecessary files, duplicate photos. I was
deep cleaning both to free up memory. But ended up transferring more files from
my phone to laptop.
Early summers are special with ‘Appe
Midi’ Mangoes, Totapuri Mangoes, Kokums, Carambolas, Bilimbis, Watermelons. Mangoes
were put to pickling. Kokums were put to make squash. We also made Kerala
famous ‘Nendran Chips’ for evening snacks. Pre monsoon showers are here. It
rained every evening throughout this week. I enjoyed dusky evenings sitting
with my first cousin Samarth, who is in his teens. We sat under open sky,
looking at the heavy black clouds. Summer rains trigger the Coffee plants to bloom.
I was excited to see coffee plants overflow with fragrant white flowers.

My best friend Suhas came over,
to invite for his wedding. He is now a bank employee. We remembered our college
days. Listed how many of our classmates are doing PhD, how many are AHOs, PSIs,
bankers, businessmen, horticulturists; Who are all about to be getting married,
already married, and have kids. His marriage is going to be a small get
together. Shouldn’t be missed.
This week I managed to write an
article for ‘Sudha weekly’. This is a 300-word article on ‘ornamental Ficus’. I
was seeing ficuses fruiting around, many birds and animals feeding on its
fruits. So thought why shouldn’t I write about it. I completed and mailed it.
Then started to write one for my column ‘Seemateeta’ for ‘Shramajeevi’ magazine.
This is a bigger one. Going to continue even next week.
It was raining whole week. Dhruva’s
clothes were not drying properly. He has outgrown his old clothes. Wanted to
buy him new ones. I usually order online, I find it cheaper, also great choices.
But now it was urgent. Bought few from those who come selling in ‘omnis’ door to
door. I didn’t like them, but no other ways. Then I was sitting and wondering how
online shopping is influencing our buying habits.
My husband Sujay is at home, I am
at my parent’s. We get to talk over only phone. He was ill because of food poisoning.
Couldn’t come to visit us. It was raining and he had network issues. Couldn’t talk
over phone too. Not talking to him makes me very heavy by heart. Finally, he
recovered and came over the weekend. We went out, this time we took Dhruva
along. Sujay wanted to change his phone, so we went to ‘Sangeetha’ to check recent
ones. We felt prices are overrated, so we are again ordering online! He is
thinking to buy ‘Nothing phone’, very trending nowadays. I told him to buy S24,
I always wanted to buy one. but he is not willing to spend so much on just a
phone when we have laptop, camera and all other gadgets.
Ours is a small town, we don’t
have lot of choice at eateries. I had seen in a reel that new café is opened, and
it serves ‘sizzling brownie’. It is one of my favourites from my Bangalore
days. Now I get to enjoy it here also. As usual Sujay was hating the smell of
the chocolate (I wonder if all men hate chocolate). Dhruva was blankly looking
at me eating. We were discussing if he would turn up like me loving chocolate
or like Sujay hating it. Then we had our mandatory ‘shevpuri’ way back home.
Sujay and me thought its summer
holidays, lets plan a kitchen garden workshop for middle schoolers. We put up a
post on WhatsApp groups. Nobody registered. Sujay tells me that I plan good
things, but these don’t workout for place like Sirsi. I was about to do a
vegetable walk for ladies, I dropped the plan after this.
Summer holidays. My little cousins
have come to stay at my ajji’s home, which is just 2 Kms away. Littlest among
them is Medha, who is just 5. She has been coming to play with Dhruva this
week. I have a lot of ‘guppies’ in my fish pond. I asked if she wants to have
one. She took one, very excited. She saw a ‘pink’ coffee cup of mine, and
wanted that. She saw a small unripe jack fruit fallen under the tree, she
wanted that also, to play ‘aduge aata’. She saw my sketchpens, now she wanted to
draw. I really wonder at a kid’s mind, how they observe things, how they want
everything they see, how their mind swiftly changes from one to another.
That’s a week in nutshell! See you next week.
