Week 35: 25th August Monday to 31st August Sunday

It was a loooong week that began with the preparations for Ganesh Chaturthi . Every year we bring home Ganesha’s idol; worship him for a day, followed by visarjan in the same evening. So Chouti is one of the biggest festivals for us. Decorations + making Naivedya (food offerings) are the major tasks to be done before welcoming Ganesha. A wooden stool covered with a silk cloth, small banana plants tied to its four legs, and an LED light mala hung over is all we use for decorating Ganesha’s seat; And a small Rangoli in front. It’s a clay idol, with no colors, atte says the design has been the same from last three four decades now. Our Ganesha Decorations are Sujay’s responsibility, though he would need my helping hand. For Ganesha’s offerings, we prepare a variety of snacks— Vade, Chakkuli, Atrasa, Modaka, Karjikaayi, Panchakajjaya, Laddige unde, Yallunde . My mother-in-law prepares these; though she too needs assistance at the kitchen. But this year, I couldn’t help with either d...

Week 34: 18th July Monday to 24th July Sunday /2025

The week started off with a doctor visit. I had a little problem with breastfeeding, had to go to my gynac, Dr.Sharada. She checked and said nothing is to be worried. She was teasing that I didn’t cry this time. I look a very confident person from face, but I am very fragile when it comes to health issues. She remembers the day Dhruva was delivered. I was screaming in the labour bed. She tried to convince me for Normal delivery, but I consented for C-section as I could no longer hold the pain. Even after delivery I had post-partum blues, she was with me, consoling, like a friend! I went to see this prop studio on the same day. I want to do Dhruvas photoshoot. Tiny sofa, tiny chair, tiny boat, tiny piano, tiny swing, tiny truck, all the tiny were very cute. While coming back from the hospital I brought some vegetables. When I turn back to this week, I see that I had brought home vegetables thrice, each time spending a minimum of 250. Its pouring rain, veggies in my k...

Week 33: 11th July Monday to 17th July Sunday

This week started with finding out about Utricularia . Coming across this plant, knowing it to be carnivorous was a tiny moment of discovery. This plant is seen everywhere here, I would have almost neglected, if not for that day. Me, Sujay and Dhurva had been to a short bike ride, to the stream nearby. On the bridge was this plant, with attractive flower. I picked it up, took it home to google more and get pictures. Eureka happened. Read more about it here. I was craving for Manchurian, wishing to eat out. But not with Sujay, he is too boring for a company (now after marriage). I wanted to talk fresh with someone else. So, I asked my cousins if they could join us. They came over. I took Dhruva (and Sujay of course our driver). Empty plates and full stomachs I recently read a blog post ‘Chit Chat ft. Foggy Brain’ by Namrata. I could connect with what she wrote and thought to note down what I see when I am asleep(!?). I get dreams, a lot of, messy ones, unrelated, ...

Toooooo busy this week ತುರಸ್‌ಕೊಳ್ಳೋಕೂ ಪುರ್ಸೊತ್ತ್‌ ಇರ್ಲಿಲ್ಲ kind of busy. Yes, got my phone like 15 days back, but I had no time to turn it on! I did. Thanks to smart switch option, all the setting got transferred as it is to the new phone. Only thing I spent time was towards personalizing the home screen. I see that lot of people put up thier photos or their family’s on the screen. I dont like that personally. I found out a beautiful dark green forest theme and applied it.  The reason why I bought new phone was the camera. This is way better than the old one. More we spend, better the features, now I crave for premium ones! Sujay kept the old one. It has an excellent signal reception capacity; serving his purpose. How's the theme Setting up my Insta account took away my whole week. I had only one account, personal. I created two more, one of our NGO ‘Phasalu’, another of our company, ‘Haridrekha’. I wanted  the newer ones to connect with facebook too....

This was a blockbuster week. Many things happened, all productive, celebration worthy. To start with; we registered our NGO, ‘Phasalu paathashaale’ with an objective to transfer agri knowledge to audience across various age groups. It was my long wish to create a separate banner for our agri education activities, and I am happy that it finally came true. After being into teaching horticulture to school students from last 3 years, I am finding the need for more such activities. Not only children but women youth and all agri enthusiasts. We are now open officially for extending our support.   The logo of ‘phasalu’ a roof under which seed of knowledge turns into the bounty of harvest and the loop continues endlessly The week marked the celebration of one of our festivals – ‘Nagara Panchami’ – dedicated to the snake god Nagappa, the cobra. Biggest fun was ‘herping’ on this week of snakes! (For those who don’t know, Herping is the activity of searching for and observing ...
