I suddenly realized that I am following a strict schedule of doing things from last few weeks. I wanted to break this routine by doing something else. That would mean no writing no reading no field works. And there I was – doing some art projects. Different from daily. I came across an interesting insta handle – of embrace_arium - who make terrariums and paludariums. I was very impressed by their artificial bonsai, wanted to try making one. I separated copper wires from electric cables; twisted them to make tree; pasted cement on to add texture; painted it wooddy brown; glued some preserved reindeer moss; put all these together in a tea cup. Ahhhh! It looked just perfect! Everyone at home was like - WOW. The Bonsai (Artificial) We had planned Dhruva’s ‘Anna Praashana’ this week – introducing solids – ritually. This is one among the 16 ‘Sanskara’s’ that we give to a newborn till he/she becomes adult. As I had already started giving vegetable purees to Dhurva, in th...

Konnichiwa This week I am mostly in the polyhouse. It’s raining heavily, since few days. Only way to ‘get out of the house’ is to ‘get in to the polyhouse’. All my indoor plants had overgrown when I was away for the delivery. A mini tropical jungle had got created. Transferring plants to bigger pots, fertilizing, rearranging them on the shelf, cutting the overgrown stems, planting them separately, was all I was doing. Cacti were blooming, So I went there in the nights too. The night bloomer The cupboard where we had kept old magazines was messy. Books were piled up, falling over at the slightest touch. I am a person who like keeping things in order. I removed all the magazines since from 2008, sorted them month and year-wise stacked them back neatly. I feel satisfied when things are in place. This is the trait I inherited from my mother. But our respective husbands get irritated for MISplacing their things🤗. Its raining I have restarted my sitar pr...

Lazy. Lazy to write. Lazy to read. Lazy to eat. Lazy to go to farm. Lazy to scroll reels. Lazzzyyyy. Lazy to even spell lazy. Vanilla slithering onto areca like a snake I overworked first half of the week. And laziness caught over the next half. I was working on revising the syllabus of horti class; found a new educational resource by USDA that can complement my classes. It was sooooooo interesting I was lost reading those. And then sorting what I need, brainstorming ALONE (with AI), preparing for the class. That was exhausting - mentally. Goodbye to my kindle, It has reached the right person. I stay home all the time. There is ‘No’ to ‘Little’ flow of people. Hence going to city, just to look at ‘the sea of people’ is refreshing. We went mid-week for the hospital – for Dhruva’s vaccination. That was quite a day, with shopping and eating out. Doctor said to introduce solid foods to Dhruva, starting with water. This is new for both of us, excited to...

Cut and sew✂️🪡. This week I was on my sewing machine. Mostly. I stitched caps for Dhruva, bed covers for his tiny bed, shortened many of his pants (he is like me, if I get a smaller size, it’s tight at the waist; one size up, and the legs are too long🥲) also stitched a laptop sleeve, few cloth bags. Sewing is one of my favorite hobbies. Refreshing. But equally irritating if machine is not working properly (iykyk). Cap for Dhruva Laptop sleeve from fabric pieces. It is 'Kantha' - gone wrong😂  Water apple trees are fruiting. Hundreds of them ripening at a single time. We shared among friends and relatives. Still hundreds left. I thought to make jam. It turned out greeeeeeeat😋. Sweet and sour. We have lots of fruiting trees around, I sometimes feel I should make jam jelly leather pickle any kind of value added products out of them and sell under our farm brand. May be I should.  Water Apple fruits and jam .  Dhruva turned six months on 4th...
