Ajji is among the stars now. 84 years, Age related multiorgan dysfunction. As I said last week, she had lost her will power. She had started blabbering, instructing where to burn her body after death. She was repeatedly asking my amma to prepare ‘kuchlakki anna’ and ‘chitranna’ as if those were her last wish. Doctor had no hopes. We were expecting her demise. We wanted her to leave this world with no suffering. She was in ICU on the night of 21st, By morning she was on ventilator, not responding to anyone. We brought her back home. She left on Monday, 22 nd , morning at 11.20. She left in peace, after completing all her duties – dividing the farm among my appa, kaka and atte; constructing new home for my appa; playing with Dhruva. She even had kept money for her own ‘Tithi’! Brave lady! My Ajji holding Dhruva, She loved me very much; Complaining about family members, Taking big decisions, Sharing her sorrows- I was her go to person. Nurses treating her in ICU said she was c...

Samartha had bought a new ‘gear cycle’; Stryder, from the Tatas. Asked me if I want to try riding. Flashback! Cycles are associated with our family from a long time. My ajja when first came to Sirsi had a cycle repair shop for livelihood.  He is 87 now, keeps on saying how cycles shaped his life. Cycles made him travel across Karnataka and Maharashtra – buying accessories and hardware parts. Cycles earned him friends- in the people who came to shop. Cycles made him earn money - through which he bought land and settled down. Even I had bicycles. First was a Hercules, with side wheels. Second was a pink ladybird with a basket in the front. Third was given by Karnataka government when I was studying in 8 th . All in bad condition now. I couldn’t ride Samartha’s bicycle, It is 29T, too tall for me. Old picture of me cycling Samartha with his new gear cycle (I asked him for the party, he gave 'Bavikai peda', very tasty sweet by a local business) My primary ...

I am starting to write this weekly note inspired by Learningwala Mihir . I always wanted to write daily diary. I start it with new year but end it half a way. I need to make it a habit. Now I am determined to write, let’s see :) I am an ‘early to bed early to rise’ person. But with Dhruva around, I wake up very late now. Nights are very exhausting, breastfeeding. I feel it was better then; when he was new born. He used to wake up every 3-4 hours. Now he is 4 months old. I co-sleep with him, and he wakes up every hour, needing me to pacify him each time to go back to sleep. During day time my amma, appa, ajji look over him, I take small naps, manage to work a little, but this is not helping, nights are nights! Sunday was Rama Navami, I made Dhruva to pose like Rama, took pictures. Afterall enjoy motherhood! Dhruva’s ear piercing was also done on the same day. Gold rates are too high, nearly a lakh for 10 grams, which was some 60 70k two months down. But ear-piercing can’t be postpon...
